Groundplan is a web based takeoff and estimating product built specifically for the construction trades such as plumbers, electricians, painters and more. To create an estimate, users count & measure directly atop floor plans, paying special attention to usability.

Our product has already won over a large number of satisfied customers and we're looking for more talented full stack engineers to join us in our mission to enhance the user experience and expand our product even further. That's where you come in.

About the role

This is a full time role for an experienced senior software developer based in Christchurch, who has ideally come from a web application background. You will work directly with the company’s founders who developed the product. On-boarding will take place at our Christchurch office, however, after the process is complete, you can choose to work remotely.

You will be expected to:

  • Develop new features and maintain existing codebase for our application and services using JavaScript, Python and related frameworks/libraries (e.g. Node.js, Vue.js, Celery and more)
  • Write clean, functional, production ready code on the front and back-end
  • Design and implement server-side APIs and database interactions to ensure smooth data flow and efficient performance
  • Communicate clearly & effectively through tools like Slack, Git, etc
  • Be self-motivated with the ability to take ownership of your work
  • Collaborate effectively with the Product Manager and the development team

What you will bring

  • Excellent understanding of modern Javascript (including promises, async, etc)
  • Practical understanding of git (semi-linear workflow)
  • Experience with the 2d or WebGL Canvas API
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • A natural at documenting decisions, refining tasks and keeping all stakeholders informed about progress
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies
